City of Vancouver: Bold Actions for a Climate Emergency 2020
We helped the City of Vancouver produce their "Bold Actions for a Climate Emergency" event, a series of opportunities and dialogues designed to inspire and inform an ambitious action plan for Vancouver that responds to the climate crisis.
Reveal Events Group was honoured to offer their full range of event production services to help the City of Vancouver produce "Bold Actions for a Climate Emergency," which took place on Feb 3rd, 2020. This live event brought together experts, activists, and entertainers at the Orpheum for engaging conversations on why bold climate action is needed and how Vancouver is responding to the climate crisis. With over 950 attendees present, this event kicked off a series of opportunities in early 2020 to collect public input on Vancouver's next climate action plan and aimed to highlight the scale of the climate crisis, the urgency needed for action, and demonstrate the importance of climate justice.
The Experience
Reveal Events Group worked closely with the City of Vancouver's Sustainability and Communications team, the Mayor and Council, and other external partners to produce the event. One of the challenges around this event was managing all the speaker and presenter schedules for the stakeholder groups involved, including the City of Vancouver, local action groups, and youth and Indigenous voices, which all needed to be equally represented. After 12 weeks of planning and weekly meetings with multiple stakeholder groups, the live event was produced as an engaging series of presentations and personal reflections from experts and thought leaders about the scale of the climate crisis and the urgent need for action.
There was a moderated dialogue that shared true stories of social transformation and insights for climate change, as well as an overview from a City of Vancouver representative about Vancouver's climate response plan. The evening ended on a high note with a performance by Vancouver-based musicians, Hey Ocean! There was also a Bold Actions exhibition set up in the lobby before and after the event that offered the audience opportunities to get involved with the City and local organizations doing climate action work.
The Impact
From event and production management to day-of support, the Reveal Events Group team worked endlessly for over 12 weeks to ensure the event was a success. With over 950+ attendees present, one of our most memorable moments was witnessing the audience engagement in the Bold Actions Exhibition!
